Simple Turkey Chili



Ingredients:

  • 4 oz. ground turkey (the leaner, the better.  I used 93% lean turkey)
  • 1/3 cup cut green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cans of crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can of red beans
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 tbsp of cumin powder
  • 2 tbsp of chili powder
  • 2 tsp of granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp of black pepper



Directions:
  • Heat a pan over medium heat.
  • Add olive oil, onions, and bell pepper and saute until slightly browned.
  • Add ground turkey, cook together until turkey meat is browned.
  • Add the tomatoes and beans, mix well.
  • Add cumin, chili, pepper, and sugar to pan. Mix then let simmer with lid for about 10 minutes.

This was my first time making chili from scratch, with no directions or ingredient proportions size.  I am fairly impressed with myself.  My son, who's a picky eater, ate this over rice and he loved it! Point for mom!
