Walker Stalker Con: Atlanta 2014

This past weekend was my first con ever!  The Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta Georgia was a trip I knew we had to make.  The tickets were only $70 (General Admission) for Saturday and Sunday so we jumped at the chance and went.  Let me just say, for my first con experience is was very easy and a very grueling one.  We got parking right next to the convention center which eliminated getting lost and having to walk long distances with our stuff.  We walked right into the center, got our passes since we had our tickets printed out already, and stood in line to be let in.  The VIPS were able to enter the con an hour early which to me allowed them to get in and get into their line faster.  Meeting the celebrities was fairly grueling only because you had to stand in line.  Being general admission meant being in the longest line.  I read a lot of forums about the VIP lines and how the people in those lines all get to go first which in my experience was not entirely true.  The volunteers staggered the lines so that meant a couple of VIPS were allowed to move up to the booth first and then a few general admissions, and then back to VIPS.

Some lines were outrageous.  We did not get to even see Andrew Lincoln (Rick) because the lines were wrapped around half the second floor and the panel was completely full.  Norman Reedus was the same way, however we saw him walking around sometimes.  Rule #1.  STAY IN LINE.  I can't count how many times we jumped lines thinking they were going to be faster or shorter and ended up further back than anticipated.  We jumped into line to see Melissa McBride (Carol) because it was less busy and we found out that she had gone on her break and then had photo ops to do and would not be back for 2 hours.  Ooops. Overall, meeting the casts members were amazing.  Some cast members were walking around, playing nerf guns with the crowd, and high-fiving.  Some of the busier cast members only had time to stick to their schedules so the only chance you had was the booth lines.  We got 5 autographs and two photos done!  We met Melissa Hutchison (the voice of Clementine from TellTale Games: The Walking Dead) and she was just a doll!  We sat at her booth for about 15 minutes just talking to her and she really gave us and everyone else their time to talk and we did not feel rushed at all. We got autographs from Scott Wilson and Jeffery DeMunn (Dale) and a photo done with Scott Wilson (Hershel).  I nearly cried meeting him because *SPOILER* *SPOILER* his death on the show killed me.  I mean seriously, I cried the next day in sculpture class and everyone thought it was hilarious.  He was awesome!  He took a selfie with my husband and we took a regular photo, and he gave us hugs!  My heart was seriously full that day. The next day was a shorter day for us because we wanted to hit the road early.  We stood in line at Steven Yeun's booth and seriously, I nearly died again when we got off the elevator because we were standing in arms length of him.  Now, he may be one of my MCMs but in all honesty, he was just amazing.  Every person he met, he paid attention to.  When we met him, he was so nice and we talked for bit.  He gives the best hugs by the way. ;)  We also met Chandler Riggs and it was refreshing that despite his career as an actor, he acted like a normal teenager.  My husband brought up the World Championship for League of Legends and Chandler's eyes shot up from the autograph and they talked for a second about it.  See, normal!

All in all, it was awesome!  We left completely satisfied with the con and are already planning for the next one.  Before we hit the road back home, we ate at Glady Knight's Chicken and Waffles.  Just delicious. :)

Here are some photos from the con!
