Whitehead Family

Working with this family was a holiday gift to myself.  I originally saw Rebecca's posting on a Facebook group.  "ISO Photographer...reasonably priced" was the first things I saw.  I thought to myself, "I'm reasonably priced and I need work"  so I kept reading.  She told her story about how she wanted some family photos done and then came the C word.  The scary C word.  The word that I myself am afraid of and have had personal family dealing with.  I instantly noticed the comments flooding in from photographers in the area, lending their page links and some nice words.  I felt defeated because I saw some really really talented photographers that were in the area saying that they had messaged her.  I decided to take a chance however and send her message.  I told her that I had seen the encouraging comments and decided to let her know that I would be honored to do them for her free of charge.  I said thank you and told her if she wanted to schedule any other session, that I would be glad to them.  Hours later, I got a message from her saying that she was interested in having me do them for her family.  I was so excited and grateful that among the others, she chose me.

Needless to say, the session was a fun one.  I was happy to have introduced them to a new family spot where they could fish and enjoy family time.  It was really all about enjoying themselves and getting away from the negative realities that they faced.  At the end of it, they expressed their gratitude and made me remember why I love doing what I do.  Capturing memories for people is a gift that shouldn't be all about making money all the time or being better than the next.  It is a gift.
